Movie <ASIA> started domestic filming
The feature film ASIA, a project Asia Lab’s Global Workshop held its first test shooting
Asia Lab started its first test shooting with domestic actors and actresses in Seoul, South Korea. Still shots and character images from the shooting were released.
The images show director Lee Jung-Sub and the main actors working on one of the intense scenes of the movie.
The idea for ASIA was triggered by the worldwide racial hate crimes towards Asians, where many were endangered and even killed and turned the world into a battleground for racism.
Asia Lab started as a short film production project, but recently produced global feature film works, that gained global attention. In 2020, Francesca Janes, a world-famous movement acting director, was invited to Korea to hold a workshop with the Oscar winners, contributing greatly to the development of the domestic content industry.
Promising young talents like Yang G, Jae-jun Lee, Tae-young Jang, Seon-a, Hyeon-bae Dong, Danny Koo, Yoon-young Jang, Anna Rihlmann and Baylee Boehr are in the line-up for the domestic shooting.
Furthermore, well-known actors and actress from all over Asia, including India, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, such as Catriona Gray, winner of the 2018 Miss Universe from the Philippines, and Luna Maya, the best actress in Indonesia, participate in the oversea shooting. The company is also currently working on casting Hollywood stars like Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash).
As a highly promising global film project, the movie ASIA was officially selected as ‘Project Spotlight Korea’ by the Asian Fantastic Film Production Network (NAFF) hosted by the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) this year. Based on the success of Fallen and AI Her, which likewise started as a film workshop with challenging spirit of Asia Lab under the guidance of director Lee Jung-Sub, the global workshop project ASIA is anticipated to become a big hit!
Director Lee Jung-Sub stated
"In this movie, both domestic and oversea actors are not only acting, but also participate in the directing and producing teams. Actor Jae-joon Lee who was one of the lead actors in the commercial film Beauty Inside, joins as an assistant director, and Yang G, the lead actor of Fallen and AI-Her, is the producer in charge. German actress Anna Rihlmann, who graduated from the renowned Acting School K-Arts is the global line producer and participates as a communicator for the overcall communication, also covering the overseas team. We know that this is not a ‘usual’ film shooting site of a commercial movie, but we aim to make a movie, where the whole team is satisfied with all the challenges and experiments.”
As a global project the movie ASIA marks the beginning of the great journey. After the huge popularity of the Netflix series Squid Game on the global OTT market, ASIA is preparing for the next craze to show the power of the Korean Wave.
Let’s get connected.
Let’s ASIA!
