A Golden Recap

The 79th Golden Globe Awards took place Sunday, January 9th 2022, but, it ran differently than it usually does. It was not televised this year, after being dropped by its main broadcasting network, NBC. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association was caught in a scandal over the lack of diversity behind the scenes. In October 2021, only 21 out of 87 members were Black, Asian, Latinx, or Middle Eastern/North African. This shows that the entertainment industry still has a long way to go to include BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) in all creative spaces. And I encourage anyone reading this to do their part in eliminating discrimination and prejudice by choosing inclusivity, not to be performative or create tokens, but to ensure equal and fair opportunities in all spaces. Here is a recap of notable winners and nominees.
