Autumn๐is around the corner, and the excitement (or nervousness) of a new school year has everyone buzzing. Here's some great ways you can put your best foot forward.
Planning Is Your Best Friend
- Knowing what lies ahead in your future can help produce a sense of confidence. I always recommend using a journal or planner, and writing down everything, yes, EVERYTHING. Okay, maybe not every single detail, but here is a list of things you could write down; Classes/courses, deadlines, exam dates, work schedule, extra-curriculars, and personal things such as appointments. Color coding and highlighting by course, or, separating work, school and personal events, is also helpful. I also think that planning to visit your new school and find out where your classes will be might curve any chance of you getting lost on your first day. Plans aren't permanent, but it's important to be prepared.
Organization Is Key
- This is crucial, not just before the school year, but all throughout the year. Keep your office/study space, bags, and binders/folders clean. An organized space = an organized mind. You can also avoid misplacing or losing important items, papers or books. Try to keep the clutter to a minimum. Summer break gives you lots of time to clean all the nooks and crannies of your space, plus, you can find out what items you may need to buy or borrow.
Pack, Pack, Prepare
- START PACKING! I find that packing 1+ weeks before the start of school is really helpful. I feel more prepared knowing that I'm already ready, and I don't have to rush my packing closer to school time. If you're attending school outside of your home, try packing your bags and essentials early. Make a list of all the items you need (school supplies, clothes, accessories, equipment, etc.).
Connect
- You don't have to do it alone, try connecting with your friends, joining a social media page that pertains to your school or course, or asking your family to help you out with packing and planning.
